Wrapture Gems Jewelry

From the Artist:  "I have always loved jewelry and have had a fascination for precious and semi-precious gemstones since I was child. I remember collecting rocks and waiting for them to reveal their hidden beauty as they came out of the lapidary tumbler in my Dads workshop."
"Opal is a particular passion of mine and I cut my own freeform solid opals for use in my jewelry designs. I am loathe to grind away any of the beautiful fire so I leave most of my opal pieces in free-form shape. This lends itself to simple designs or to more intricate wire-woven techniques and metal smithing. I only use precious metals, in the form of high quality sterling silver wire & 14kt gold-filled wire from a reputable supplier to the jewellery trade - for wire-weaving & sterling silver & solid karat gold for metal work & bails, caps, rings & earring fittings."
"Although I often design ahead with wire-work; the stones seem to influence what I create for them & the design can evolve during the process. I incorporate precious and semi-precious gems into my work as accent stones. As well as opal I work with Canadian Ammolite, Tahitian pearls & New Zealands own breath-taking “Paua pearls.”   I am constantly on the look-out for new & exciting gemstones to work with. My aim always, is to create unique & beautiful art to wear & to treasure for years to come."

Care More

About this artist:  "I was born in a small town in Northwest Pennsylvania where I was raised on a farm by two wonderful loving parents. It is there where I learned to love and appreciate nature in all its glory. I currently live with my husband on the Kenai River in Alaska where I am surrounded by beautiful mountains, soaring eagles, splashing salmon and of course the occasional wandering moose and bear. I draw my inspiration from my surroundings, family and friends. All my life I have loved to create...since childhood when I discovered that my hands and my heart were my best tools! You name it, I probably attempted to create it. But my love of nature together with my love of fashion has inspired me to create this dramatic line of jewelry. I have finally found my niche. I LOVE making these unique treasures. Every morning I can't wait to get up, put on a pot of coffee and make another one!"

E. Smith Designs

About the Artist:  "I have worked in a very structured field for most of my professional life and needed to be able to release my inner self. (You can only adapt a canned accounting program so far and still meet GAPS rules.) Then the ecomony fell and it became apparent that I need a new job, so I set out on my own to find happiness in art. This is the result.  I have made jewelry since my one fun class in high school. Over the years, I have been more and more interested in colors, textures, and sparkles.  I am using both precious gemstones and semiprecious gemstones. Silver, gold, gold filled, or (due to the economy) silver plate, silver filled, copper, or brass or who knows what else I may find.  I also believe that everyone should do what they love and have more than one career."    To visit this artists shop click on the post title above.
