Lyn Swan
About the Artist - Lyn Swan: "I have been working in clay for as long as i can remember and am still very much addicted! I received a BFA in ceramics from RIT, School for the American Craftsman in New York. My home and studio are now in Sonoma California where I continue my never ending exploration of clay. I am currently working with a mid range porcelain, colorful glazes, sulfates, and gold luster. For the most part, my current work is hand built, as I am fascinated by the character and personality of each individual piece, so whimsical, so entertaining! The work is functional and playful, it is meant to be used, enjoyed ... basically, make you happy ~ have fun!" You can visit the artists shop by clicking on the post title above.

Peiffer Studios
Statement of the Artist: "Peiffer Studios is a labor of love for my husband Will and I (Brooke.) We love working with clay though our time with it is limited...we have a five year old son, Gabriel. We work at home in our kitchen, on the deck and in the garage, where we keep the kiln. We love to watch movies and listen to music. Will enjoys tending to his unusual fish collection and I enjoy photography, sewing, collaging and decorating. I work full time as a high school ceramics instructor, and Will gets to stay home and play with Gabriel! We have a Jack Russel Terrier named Katie who enjoys digging and root pulling and the occaisional romp around the neighborhood at night, with us trying to find her. Will and I both hold degrees from Michigan State University. His is in Anthropology and mine is in Art Education. My Masters is in Educational Technology." Sky Bird Arts
Statement from the Artist: "My artistic career began with artist parents. I studied at a fine arts high school and have a BFA in fine arts. I work in many mediums. I am a painter and collage artist, clay artist, sculptor, designer, writer, singer, mother & have had some very interesting jobs. I live and work in a beautiful woodsy spot near Lake Michigan, which is always inspiring. I love working in high-fire clay because it has the capacity to travel through time. Consider that in purchasing a stoneware mug, for example, you have something that can be passed from generation to generation, potentially lasting for hundreds, even thousands of years."

Albertag
Artists Statement: "My fascination for clay began back in 1975, while living in South Africa. The fact that the clay can be manipulated by throwing on the potter’s wheel, pinched, cut, coiled, slabbed, textured and joined, was especially appealing to me.
After immigrating to the United States in 1981, I continued with pottery as a hobby, using my garage as a studio. In March 2005 my hobby became my fulltime profession. Whether creating by hand or using the potter's wheel in my new, fully equipped, air-conditioned studio, my unique designs reflect not only my South African heritage, but encompass contemporary, universal appeal, being both functional and decorative.
Through 30 years of growth my work has evolved into a remarkable combination of vivid, textured designs, overlaid with unusual techniques of glaze application. Pottery is a never-ending challenge to me, and I am constantly attempting new ideas, driven by the passion I have for this craft."

RoseMarys Clay
Artists Statement: "I have worked with clay for about 30 years. At first I took classes at the local community college. Then I set up shop at home, building my own updraft gas kiln. It was not that efficient, and soon, after a lot of tears, I bought a used 12 cubic foot gas kiln. I also enjoy raku and pit firing. I love handbuilding probably more than wheel throwing. Lately I have been experimenting with cone 6 glazes and that has been interesting. There is nothing, however, as beautiful as a cone 10 reduction fired piece where the glazes have moved and blended with each other. Another love of mine that you will see in my shop. Gourd shapes are beautiful and remind me so much of favorite ceramic forms."

Mudman 44
Statement of Artist: "As a painter it was by fate that I was drawn into the world of pottery. Upon acquiring a ceramics teaching position in the late 1990's I quickly began teaching myself how to create and produce both hand-built and wheel thrown pottery. I enjoyed immediately the way the clay reacted and interacted with me. Five years ago I decided to start a series and create a body of work, using only black underglaze on the white surface of the unfired clay. The initial images on my work were mostly geometric, but I soon began to add more abstract shapes, surreal images and symbols to the varied forms I had thrown. My love of art history and my interest in learning about philosophy and various religions has continued throughout my life to inspire and guide me." seeing is believing
From the studio of Seeing is Believing, these pieces are truly stunning. To quote from the artists' studio... "Structure has never been my strong suit. I have always loved the free flow of design along with a twist of whimsicality. I'm not saying I will never create something structured. But just at this moment in time I Love being a bit more free with my pieces. Each one is unique, no matter if I am submerging my fingers in Clay, Paint or Fabric. I have a passion for nature and I feel each piece reflects that...
