About this artist: "Born in London 1969, I am an Arts Graduate with both a BA hons and a MA - despite the academic side to me, I'm very much a self-taught creative artist. I work in my small studio space, listening to music and surrounded by my favourite collections of art and craft. I'm also a published poet. I received an Eric Gregory award for poetry in 1996 from the Society of Authors. My work has been published in a variety of journals and I've had a couple of pamplet/chapbook collections published. Currently working on many new poems.... I love to make things with my own two hands, using simple materials: thread, fabric, paper and I have a love of history, art history, folklore, memory, folk art, nostalgia, design and fashion. I delight in the work of many other artists, especially the outsider Madge Gill, the poet/artist William Blake, countless historical painters, as well as modern textile artist Alice Kettle. I have exhibited work in the UK and US. My work has been featured in various magazine / journals both in the US and UK."

Tracey Kafka
About this Artist: Tracey Kafka is an artist who lives and works in Connecticut. She graduated from Paier College of Art in 1997 and has been with Elm City Artists, a New Haven co-op for the past 4 years. Originally working in large format painting, she found her work reducing gradually over a period of time. Her current format allows the connection of her intution and spontaneity to react more closely.
Gouache, watercolor, oil, acrylic, charcoal and a variety of textural mediums all find a home in Kafka's work. "My approach to painting is an exploration of line, form and color. I do not set out to create a specific image". Kafka's pieces are all untitled. "I want the viewer to experience their own individual perception of my work". The result, Kafka hopes, unlocks a door in the viewer's imagination and takes them on their own journey. Kafka's work is housed in private collections here in the USA and in Europe.

Atelier 28
From the Artist: "My name is Andrea Cook and I'm originally from England. I began making things as soon as I was able to, beginning with origami when I was 4 years old from a Japanese neighbour. I later studied architecture at the University of Sheffield in the UK and enjoyed the marriage of the technical and artistic aspects. Since 2003 I’ve been working as a professional artist in the Netherlands where I run a gallery and art centre with my partner, a fellow etsy artist. Besides making etching and painting, I am fascinated by paper and the process of making it. I make paper from recycling waste paper and from plant pulps, including rhubarb, apple and even banana skins! I hope you enjoy my work, to see more please visit http://www.atelier28.net/. And if you are in Holland, pop in and visit us in our gallery!...

Art for Little People
About the Artist: "The decision to do anthropomorphic animal characters was inspired by my memories of reading books like Rupert Bear and the work of illustrators like Richard Scarry. As for the themes for the pictures, I just chose things that I enjoy. I like lighthouses, I like to read about naval history in the age of the tall ships and I enjoy sci-fi shows and books, and so they have become the themes for my pictures. They might be cartoony in style but I make sure I do my research and gather hundreds of reference pictures on my subjects before I set about drawing and painting them. Making sure I get the period uniform of a Royal Navy Marine from Nelson’s navy as accurate as I can, might seem like an odd thing to do in a picture populated by caricatures of rabbits and rats but I suppose that’s one of my little foibles."

Artologica
Statement from the Artist: "Artologica sells original paintings that explore the intriguing beauty of natural phenomena. I use an old, traditional medium, watercolor, to create pieces that are anything but old-fashioned. All these pieces are one-of-a-kind, hand-painted originals. So far, I haven’t made prints of my work – I just prefer to paint another one." To see the shop and view more of this artists work, just click on the post title above.

Cathy Hillegas
Statement from the Artist: "I did not intend to become an artist when I signed up for a watercolor class in 1993. I was hooked from the very beginning and fell in love with the transparency, the glow, and the unpredictability of watercolor. Many classes, workshops, books, and hours with a brush in my hand later, I now teach watercolor classes myself and still love every moment I spend painting."
