About this artist:  "I am a jewelry designer, living and working in Wellesley, Massachusetts. I earned a degree in Studio Art from Mount Holyoke College and have been working as a jeweler for the past five years, and as a printmaker for nearly twenty years. My website, www.celestelambert.com, features both of my mediums of work. It was through printmaking that I initially recognized the opportunity in designing jewelry. I had collected some beautifully figured wood veneer with the intent of using it for a substrate for a printed image. I realized that the naturally occurring designs within the wood were so evocative that I shifted my thinking towards ways in which to showcase them."

"Today, my diverse line of handcrafted bracelets are created through a process of steam-bending and layering wood veneer. As the jewelry collection has evolved, I have added stainless steel accents to complement the complexity and organic richness of the wood. I believe that wood jewelery is becoming incredibly popular, not only because of the beauty of natural materials, but because society as a whole is becoming committed to eco-friendly fashion. I am inspired by early American Shaker design, as well as modern architecture, both of which help drive my design process."

Pink Pigeon Studio

Specific to the piece above:  "Found, reclaimed and resurrected- a puzzled mosaic sculpture of poplar, cedar, hemlock and pine blocks held within an antique window frame. Pieces of wood that have been discovered in abandoned barns in Maine, saved from kitchen remodels in Massachusetts, pulled out from a razed rectory built in 1893, worn by Moosehead Lake. Colors may range from ebony to green to beige to grey to umber to brownish red- soft washes that highlight the grain of the wood. Each block has been individually cut, shaped and sanded to smooth out the ravages of time. Contemplative & serene, this sculpted wall piece fits beautifully into all décor, from modern to country."

Artists' Statment:   "I create artistic and functional pieces from salvaged and reclaimed wood. I started doing this several years ago because I had access to demolished houses and I could take all I wanted for free. Pittsburghers don’t like to see anything go to waste. When word got around that I was reusing old house parts, people gave me their discards. Some also told me about interesting finds they saw being thrown out.  I try to retain and enhance old finishes that show the effects of time and weather. I don’t start out with detailed plans. I gather the materials I feel like using and try to piece them together to create the shape and depth I envision. Staunch Studio

Artists' Statement  ---  I love seeing my patterns take form. I love picking my colors, both complimentary and contrasting. And I love that sometimes, I don't know what I'll end up with when I'm done painting.
I work on small pieces of wood; nothing measures bigger than 9" in length. My artwork is for bookshelf spaces or those places on the wall where you need a "little something". And my work gives you that "little something"-bold colors and geometric patterns for the modern home or office.

Artist' statement:  These vases are made from salvaged vintage pine and made into cubes for a minimal look, but also earth friendly.   The cubes are 3x3 and the middle is drilled out to fit a test tube which then makes it roughly 8-9 inches in height. The test tube is meant for a flower. It is hand rubbed with an all natural finish a water based clear lacquer.  Click on the post title for a direct link to the shop.

Oshiwa Designs

Oshiwa Designs produces hand carved stamps in a small workshop in Namibia, Africa. All of the designs are original to the carvers who interpret their African heritage in their personal way. Most designs are geometric, although there are also many animal motifs as well.
