Statement of Artist:  "As a painter it was by fate that I was drawn into the world of pottery. Upon acquiring a ceramics teaching position in the late 1990's I quickly began teaching myself how to create and produce both hand-built and wheel thrown pottery. I enjoyed immediately the way the clay reacted and interacted with me. Five years ago I decided to start a series and create a body of work, using only black underglaze on the white surface of the unfired clay. The initial images on my work were mostly geometric, but I soon began to add more abstract shapes, surreal images and symbols to the varied forms I had thrown. My love of art history and my interest in learning about philosophy and various religions has continued throughout my life to inspire and guide me."  To visit the artists shop, click on the post title above.
